Kazakhstanis in London Prepare for the Kurultai Elections
Preparation for the Kurultai elections abroad is entering the final stage. Members of the election commission in London are completing the final organizational preparations. On August 23, Kazakh citizens residing in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland – the countries that make up the United Kingdom – will be able to vote at polling station No. 408 at the Embassy of Kazakhstan, 24KZ reports.
More than 1,500 Kazakh citizens are currently registered with the embassy's consular service. However, those who have not registered for consular services will also be able to come to the polling station and vote, provided they meet the requirements established by law. Voters will need to present an identity card or passport.
Daniyar Iskakov, Chairman of Polling Station No. 408:
– All necessary conditions are being created to ensure that Kazakh citizens can exercise their right to vote. Overall, more than 300 people across the United Kingdom are expected to take part in the election. Commission members are taking the necessary measures to ensure order and security during the voting process. Voters will be able to freely make their choice, while the secrecy of the ballot will be preserved.
Birzhan Seiyil, Bolashak scholarship recipient:
– We are planning to take part in the election together. The embassy has created all the necessary conditions for voting. Therefore, we would like to encourage all our fellow citizens to come to the polling station. We will definitely be here ourselves as well.
Erlan Kabiev, Bolashak scholarship recipient:
– On August 23, we will come to the Embassy of Kazakhstan in London and cast our votes. When you are abroad, you feel especially strongly about the importance of participating in elections and having the opportunity to cast your vote.
Observers registered in accordance with the procedure established by law will be able to monitor the election process. However, no such applications have been received so far.
On election day, a traditional dastarkhan is also planned to be set up at the entrance to the building. The polling station will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. London time.
