Nine Kazakh servicemen die during Caspian Sea naval exercises

A tragic incident occurred during naval exercises in the Mangystau Region, reports 24KZ. Due to a sudden deterioration in weather conditions, a storm wave swept an estimated 19 servicemen into the sea.

According to the official information from the Ministry of Defence, nine servicemen have been confirmed dead. Three were rescued, while another serviceman was hospitalized. The search for the others is ongoing.

A search and rescue operation is underway. Units of the Naval Forces, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, aviation and other emergency services are involved. A commission of the Ministry of Defence, headed by Defence Minister Dauren Kosanov, has been urgently dispatched to the scene to establish the circumstances of the incident and coordinate rescue efforts.

The Ministry of Defence has expressed its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the servicemen who died. The families of those affected will receive all necessary assistance.
