Pavlovnia Grown for the First Time in Turkistan Region Village

Residents of Koksarai village in Turkistan Region have planted paulownia trees for the first time, 24KZ reports. Five thousand seedlings were planted this spring across five hectares. In just six months, some of them have grown to four metres. Local residents are now observing how well the paulownia will adapt to the local conditions.

Five hectares of land in Koksarai have been transformed into a small forest. Five thousand paulownia seedlings are growing here. Local resident Abduali Kuandykov planted them this spring. In six months, the young trees have grown to four metres. The main task now is to help them withstand the local climate and adapt to their new environment.

Abduali Kuandykov, resident of Koksarai village:

- Trees are planted in our village every year. The older generation started this work, and later school graduates joined them. I also decided to support the initiative and plant paulownia. We didn't have this type of tree here before. If it adapts well, next year we will transplant the seedlings to parks and plant them along the streets.

A drip irrigation system has been installed to help the seedlings grow. A well was drilled and a water reservoir was installed for this purpose. The same system is used to water trees planted along the road.

Zhaksylyk Utegenov, Deputy Akim of Koksarai Rural District:

- Since 2021, residents of Koksarai village have been planting trees along the regional highway and local roads. We first landscaped a 2.5-kilometre stretch, planting more than 3,600 seedlings. These trees have now grown to eight metres.

In recent years, residents have allocated almost another 10 hectares for landscaping. Some 15,000 trees have been planted there.

- Planting a tree is only the beginning. The most important thing is to help it take root and grow. That is why the residents of Koksarai village do more than simply plant seedlings – they take care of them themselves. This approach plays an important role in greening the entire region. More than one million trees were planted here last year, and this year the plan is to plant 300,000 more. Half were planted in spring, with the rest to be planted in October and November.
