Which Jobs Will Be in Demand in the Coming Years

According to the World Economic Forum, more than 70% of school students today have no clear idea of what career they want to pursue, 24KZ reports. This uncertainty often continues after graduation: only 27% of college and university graduates work in their field of study. Many spend years acquiring qualifications that are not in demand, only ro find themselves looking for a new career path.

Over the next five years, 170 million new vacancies are expected to emerge worldwide, while 92 million existing jobs could disappear. This is the forecast made by experts at the World Economic Forum. Despite widespread job cuts around the world amid technological advances, data from research firm Gartner show that fewer than 1% of layoffs in the first half of 2025 were caused by productivity gains driven by artificial intelligence. AI is not yet replacing people on a large scale, but it is rapidly reshaping the labour market.

Brad Smith, President of Microsoft:

- Companies once had to adapt to computers, and now the time has come to adapt to artificial intelligence. Employers need to invest in training their staff to use new tools. This applies not only to young people. Every generation needs to learn how to work with AI, and they need to start now.

According to Crimson, an international education consultancy, 15 jobs could disappear in the coming years. Automation is expected to affect administrative support roles, including cashiers, ticket inspectors and secretaries. Accountants, property appraisers and graphic designers are also considered to be at risk. At the same time, experts point to several promising career paths, including IT, healthcare, education, finance, robotics and digital technology.

Yuval Noah Harari, historian and futurist:

- The most important skill in the 21st century is the ability to keep changing and learning new things. The traditional model of life, in which you study first and then work for the rest of your life, has disappeared. By 2030, you will have to do more than just change jobs. You will need to renew your skills and reinvent your profession every ten years.

Aidana Bekzhan, correspondent:

- Analysts say we are approaching a new era in which human intelligence and artificial intelligence work hand in hand. New jobs require new skills, and the key to success will be the ability to keep learning and adapt to a rapidly changing world.
