Kazakh Film 'Erekshe' Wins Three Awards at Moscow Sports Film Festival

The Kazakh film 'Erekshe' has won three awards at the 24th International Sports Film Festival in Moscow, 24KZ reports. The film was recognised in the categories of Best Director, Best Actor and Olympic Values.

This year, the festival received more than 100 submissions from 15 countries, with 57 projects selected for the programme. The film tells the story of para-athletes who compete in boccia, highlighting how they overcome challenges and work towards their goals. The production has not only earned recognition from the international jury but has also raised awareness of Paralympic sports and inclusion in Kazakhstan.

Yerlan Bukharbayev, General Producer at Tiger Films:

- We never expected to enter a film festival, let alone win these awards. We started with a simple idea: to tell the story of the Kazakhstan Boccia Federation and this remarkable Paralympic sport, which was largely unfamiliar to audiences in Kazakhstan. Our goal was to introduce people to boccia and show them what it is all about. We met Paralympic athletes, learned about the game, attended championships and took part in various boccia-related events. That was when we truly began to understand the enormous benefits this sport brings and, most importantly, the people who play it. The Paralympic athletes in the Boccia Federation are real heroes.
