President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev Receives Atlético de Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commended the successful cooperation with Atlético de Madrid football club and noted that Miguel Ángel Gil Marín’s visit to Kazakhstan would provide an opportunity to elevate the partnership to a new level, according to the Akorda press service.

The Head of State noted that Kazakhstan is actively investing in modern football infrastructure, training facilities and youth player development programs while simultaneously continuing the privatization of most of the country’s football clubs. He highlighted that in cooperation with FIFA, consistent efforts are underway to build more than 100 new football fields for children across all regions of the country.

During the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev specifically underscored the achievements of the Spanish national team and the Spanish football school, emphasizing Kazakhstan’s interest in studying this advanced experience and applying it to the development of a new generation of talented Kazakh players.

For his part, Atlético de Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín expressed his gratitude to the President for the particular attention given to the development of football in Kazakhstan. He spoke positively about the infrastructure of the Atlético de Madrid Academy in Almaty Region, noting that it has the potential to become one of the leading football training complexes.

At the conclusion of the meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded Miguel Ángel Gil Marín the Order of Dostyk (Order of Friendship) of II Degree, in recognition of his contribution to the development of football in Kazakhstan.
